Revenues from wireless data services jumped more than 86% in 2005, CTIA reports. Revenue from wireless data services amounted to more than $8.58 bln in 2005, up from $4.60 bln in 2004. On the SMS/Text Messaging front, a total of 48.7 bln messages being sent in the second half of 2005. This is a 97% increase from the second half of 2004, when 24.7 bln messages were sent. 1.5 trillion wireless minutes were consumed in 2005, an increase of nearly 36% over 2004 when 1.1 trillion minutes were used.
