Why do people donate to politicians online?

An e-mail message from a relative or a friend proves to be the most effective campaign funding vehicle, as 15% of those who donated online cited this reason as foremost. Web site content of political group is distant second, as 9% cited it as a reason, with unsolicited e-mail from an unknown person taking third place with 3%.
