Telecommunications Industry Association predicts that US telecommunications revenue will increase from $785 bln in 2004 to $1.1 trillion in 2008, after four years of modest growth. US telecom spending grew (for the first time in four years) by 7.9% in 2004. US sUSribers of cable TV using cable for telephony applications will jump from 3.3 mln in 2004 to 7.4 mln in 2008. The number of VOIP lines in the US will grow from 6.5 mln in 2004 to 26 mln in 2008. Spending on networking equipment, which dropped 71% in the US between 2000 and 2003, will grow from $15.8 bln in 2004 to $21.9 bln in 2008. The number of broadband users in the US will pass dial-up users this year, with broadband growing from 32 mln lines in 2004 to nearly 57 mln lines in 2008. Spending on enterprise telecom equipment grew 5.9% in 2004, and will grow more than 7% a year between 2004 and 2008.
