US ad spending down 0.3% in the first half of 2007

US advertising spending slipped 0.3% in the first half of 2007 to $72.59 bln, according to TNS Media Intelligence. Television ad spending dragged the market, falling 2.4% to $31.63 bln, offsetting ad spending gains in other sectors. Newspaper ad spending fell 5.8% to $12.92 bln. Radio ad spending fell 2.7% $5.14 bln. The declines offset gains from Internet display ad spending, which rose 17.7% to $5.52 bln. Magazine ad spending rose 4.6% and outdoor spending rose 3.6% to $1.9 bln.
