IC Insights published a report on expected top ten cell phone manufacturers for 2004. Nokia, Motorola, Samsung and Siemens will finish the 2004 as leaders in the global mobile communications market, with each company reporting growth on mobile phone sales. Nokia will manage to boast impressive 31% market share, but Nokia’s dominance is fading as in 2002 the company sold 36% of world’s cell phones, and in 2003 34% of all sales belonged to Nokia.
IC Insights forecasts that worldwide cellular handset market growth will slow to 5% in 2005, reaching 705 mln units. The firm forecasts that the worldwide cellular handset market will exceed 1 bln units by 2008. At the same time, after growing 24% in 2003, the worldwide cellular handset market is forecast to surge another 29% to 670 mln units in 2004. For 2004, the total cellular handset average selling price (ASP) is forecast to decline about 8% to $124.00.
