Global sales of plasma TVs surged 95% in Q2 2006 compared to Q2 2005 to 2.2 mln units, bolstered by robust sales of Panasonic brand, DisplaySearch said. Plasma TVs took a 5% share of the worldwide TV market in Q2 2006 in unit terms, up from 4% in Q1 2006. Plasma TVs accounted for 20% of the global TV revenues in Q2 2006, up from 18% in Q1 2006. Matsushita increased its share to 28.3% in Q2 2006 from 21.5% in Q1 2006.
