PC market in Middle East in Africa up 20.5% in Q1 2005

Regional conflict failed to dent the continuing expansion of the PC market in the Middle East and Africa in Q1 2005. According to IDC, the market grew to 1.80 mln units, up 20.5% YTY. Notebooks displayed the highest growth rate, with shipments jumping more than 39% compared with Q1 2004. The desktop market expanded by 16.2% and the x86 server market by 28.5%. Desktops still dominated in the region, accounting for 77.2% of overall volume.
