45% of Consumer Reports survey respondents were “completely” or “very” satisfied with their wireless service. That ranked the cell phone industry below homeowners’ insurance (77%), hotels (67%), and supermarkets (67%). The Council of Better Business Bureaus says customers filed 28,000 complaints about cell phones in 2004 – more than for new car dealers, credit card companies, collection agencies or any other industry. 59% of respondents to USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll think service contracts that lock in for a period of time are a “major” or “minor” problem”; 53% feel the cost of service is a major or minor problem; nearly half consider dropped calls a major or minor issue; and 42% feel that way about confusing bills.
