Newspaper ad revenues down 1.5% in Q3 2006

Combined print and online advertising revenue at US newspapers slid 1.5% to $11.8 bln in Q3 2006. Print editions accounted for most of the spending at $11.1 bln, a 2.6% drop from the same quarter a year ago. Online spending jumped 23% to $638 mln, the 10th consecutive quarter of double-digit increases, Newspaper Association of America says.
