IDC published the results of small business survey in Asia-Pacific. IT vendors who have created content dedicated to SMBs on their websites are gaining an additional advantage. SMBs are growing increasingly reliant on the Web, with 27% of those surveyed accessing the Web to learn about new IT products or services, followed by ‘computer store/retail’s’, which is only 12%. Surprisingly, sales representatives suffer a waning influence on SMBs. It was found that the most commonly approached partners/channels by the SMBs to acquire IT products were ‘Internet/order placed online’, ‘value-added computer resellers (VARs)’ and ‘office equipment outlets’. Hence, the Internet has greatly influenced the lifestyles of not only the large enterprises, but the SMBs as well.
