New York Times quotes Federal Reserve in an article on means of payment preferred by the new generation. In 2000 57% of American non-cash payments were made with checks, 22% with credit cards, 11% with debit cards and 10% via other electronic forms of payment. Checks lost significantly by 2003, when only 45% were made via paper checks, 23% through credit cards, 20% with debit cards and 12% via other means.
