With demand boosted by the establishment of hot spots, Centrino notebooks are expected to account for 42% of global notebook shipments in 2003, Jonathan Luo, manager of the Asia-Pacific Solution Group (APSG) at Intel Taiwan, quoted a survey released by International Data Corporation (IDC) as saying. According to the survey, 70% of respondents interviewed by the IDC said they definitely will choose notebooks with WLAN capabilities when they replace their old models, Luo said.
This indicates that worldwide sales of Centrino-based notebooks are likely to gain momentum in the next three to six months, Luo asserted. By 2006, around 95% of notebooks shipped globally will offer WLAN connectivity, he added.
