EMEA server market down 4.3% in Q1 2006

The server market in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) suffered a YTY factory revenue decline of 4.3% in Q1 2006, according to IDC. Sales of servers in EMEA totaled $3.8 bln in Q1 2006, down from $4.9 bln in Q1 2005. Shipments declined by 8.8% YTY, reaching 567,660 units compared to the record 676,849 units experienced in Q1 2005. The Central and Eastern Europe server market recorded the strongest growth in the region for the fourth consecutive quarter, displaying annual growth rates of 13.9% and 28.1% in factory revenue and shipments respectively.
