Intel saw its market share inch up to 82.2% in Q4 2004, up from 82% in Q3 2004, according to Mercury Research. The market share for rival Advanced Micro Devices climbed to 16.6%, up from 16%. Both companies gained because smaller manufacturers Via Technologies and Transmeta, which together account for less than 2% of the market, shrunk.
