Asian semiconductor market to grow to $203 bln in 2010

Annual semiconductor consumption in the booming Asian market will jump from $136.5 bln in 2005 to $203 bln in 2010, reports In-Stat. After the 2001 downturn, most of the electronic manufacturing from the US and Europe shifted to low-cost regions in Asia, resulting in Asia being the largest manufacturing base for electronics today. Asia’s semiconductor consumption is expected to increase from close to 60% of the total global semiconductor demand in 2005 to 66% by 2010.
