Gartner estimates that the PC unit shipments in Asia-Pacific region will grow 12.8% to 37.3 mln units in 2005, compared with 13.8% growth in 2004. Mobile PC sales are forecast to grow 21.3%, down from 31.3% last year; while demand for desktop PCs is expected to grow by 10.8% this year, slightly faster than last year’s 10.4% pace. China, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam will show the fastest growth for desktop PCs. The top three vendors in the desktop PC category last year – Lenovo, HP and Dell – enjoyed more than 30% growth.
