The economy added 112,000 payroll jobs in November 2004, to 132.1 mln. Roughly 150,000 new payroll jobs per month are considered necessary to keep up with the growth of the labor force in the United States. The nation’s unemployment rate was essentially unchanged at 5.4%, the Labor Department said. The number of payroll jobs in the area of computer systems design and related services rose by 9,900 during the month, to 1.15 mln.
