75% of Americans don’t feel their identity is more secure today

Intervoice surveys showed 75%of Americans believing their identity is not more secure compared to a year ago period. 60% of respondents said they would not be limiting their technology use because of identity theft fears. 20% have stopped making purchases via telephone in order to mitigate the problem of identity theft, over 40% would be willing to use national identification card as their primary means of protecting themselves from identity theft, and 81% of consumers believed that they are personally responsible to protect themselves against identity theft.
