50.2 mln broadband lines in the US in 2005

US high-speed Internet subscriptions soared 33% in 2005 to 50.2 mln lines, according to Federal Communications Commission. DSL subscriptions jumped 5.7 mln lines versus cable companies adding 4.2 mln subscribers in 2005, according to the FCC. The cable industry’s market share dropped 3.5% to 57.5% while DSL gained 3.3% to reach 40.5%.
