500.5 mln albums were sold in 2007, marking a 15% decline from 2006, – according to Nielsen SoundScan. Total music sales totaled 1.37 bln, a 14% YTY increase. Online album sales barely rose at all, up 2.4% to 30.1 mln units; growth was 19% in 2006. Overall music sales rose 14% to 1.4 bln units, driven mostly by digital tracks, which rose 45% to 844.2 mln units. The industry driver showed a growth decline, up 45% in 2007 after 65% growth in 2006.
