Sales of flat panel TVs soared during the January-June 2006 period to more than $4 bln, according to the NPD Group. Notebook computer sales rose 17% to more than $7 bln dollars, while sales of portable digital players increased 34% to more than $2.2 bln. Digital cameras saw an almost 9% rise over the year-ago period to more than $2.7 bln in sales.
