35,000 IT companies in the US, most of them with revenues less than $5 mln

The IT industry includes 35,000 companies that generate about $150 bln in annual revenue. Most companies are small with annual revenue less than $5 mln; only about 100 have annual revenue greater than $100 mln, but these control more than 55% of the market, Research and Markets reports. Large companies include Electronic Data Systems, Accenture, Computer Sciences, and the technology consulting arms of IBM and Hewlett-Packard.
