While data and VoIP continue to drive the DSL IC chipset market, and will account for the bulk of port shipments through 2010, the delivery of IPTV capability is the wave of the future, reports In-Stat. In 2005, there were 153.1 mln total ports of DSL shipped worldwide, including CO and CPE for ADSL, VDSL, and SHDSL. The number of ports shipped is expected to grow to 185.5 mln in 2010. Revenues through 2010 will decline, however, as there is increasing pressure on price from DSLAM vendors.
