VOIP minutes in North America: 53% – broadband providers, 21.7% – Vonage, 14.4% – Skype

In North America, broadband service providers account for 53% of all VoIP minutes on high-speed networks in November and December 2005, versus 21.7% for Vonage and 14.4% for Skype, according to Sandvine. In Europe, service provider-branded VoIP represented 51.2% of minutes, while Skype had 45%, Vonage less than 1% and other VoIP providers 3.5%. In North America, broadband providers capture 81.8% of the VoIP minutes on their own networks.
