US ad spending up 5.6% in Q1 2006
US ad spending climbed 5.6% in Q1 2006, powered by double-digit increases by AT&T, General Electric and Verizon Communications. Spending on Internet advertising rose 46.4% from Q1 2005, Nielsen//NetRatings reports. No other media came close to matching that growth rate, with Spanish language television posting the second-largest rise at 14.3%. Network television, helped by the winter Olympics, saw advertising spending rise 11.1%.
