Mobile penetration in Taiwan and Hong Kong reaches 110% and 105.75%

Taiwan and Hong Kong lead the world in terms of mobile penetration – there are 110 mobile phones for every 100 inhabitants of Taiwan, and 105.75 mobile phones for every 100 people in Hong Kong. Other countries ranked lower in International Telecommunications Union annual survey, with US reaching 57% mobile penetration by the end of 2004, slightly above third-world Jamaica, which finished with 54%. Wireless companies were the #2 sector for complaints to Better Business Bureaus in 2003, trailing only car dealers. They were the second-lowest ranked industry in the University of Michigan’s customer satisfaction index, second only to the hated cable companies.
