Middle East and North African enterprise application software market generated $187 mln in 2005

Spending on enterprise application software (EAS) expanded a substantial 16% to more than $187 million in 2005 across the Arab Middle East and North Africa. According to IDC, it will shoot up a further 12.5% this year as budget surpluses from high oil prices are poured back into the national economies as part of diversification programs, fueling the competitive environment and creating a need for advanced enterprise applications. In terms of implementation, banks, discrete manufacturers, and the thriving oil and gas industry accounted for more than 40% of EAS investments in the region last year.
