Linux deployments in retail business up 34% in 2004

According to IHL Consulting Group, Linux deployments in retail increased 34% in 2004 over 2003. Driven by new market entrants and the rising popularity of Linux, the average cost of a point of sale system has fallen dramatically over the past two years, from more than $4,000 in 2002 to under $1,000 in 2004.
