Demand for handset LEDs to grow at 21.9% a year

Demand for handset-use LEDs is projected to grow from 5.2 billion units in 2003 to 9.424 billion in 2006, with a CAGR of 21.9%, according to Taiwan?s Science and Technology Information Center (STIC). In addition, LEDs used in mobile phones will increase from about 10 units per phone on average at present to 12 by the end of 2006, STIC said.
