In-Stat estimates that the average enterprise business will spend more than $20 mln on information technology in 2005. Although per-firm IT spending is expected to increase over the next several years, it is expected to do so at a moderate pace. Though the enterprise market is the largest single market opportunity for high-tech vendors today, it is not the fastest growing. Nonetheless, the smallest enterprise firms, those with 1,000 to 4,999 employees, are expected to increase their expenditures most significantly among the firms in this market in the future. The average firm with 10K+ employees is expected to spend more than $126 mln on IT this year. The smallest firms in this market, however, are expected to experience the greatest growth in per-firm spending. Enterprise firms with 1,000 to 4,999 employees are expected to spend, on average, more than $5.3 mln on IT in 2005, a 2% increase from last year.
