$765.1 bln charged to MasterCards in the US in 2005

Worldwide gross dollar volumes charged to MasterCard cards rose 11.9% to $1.66 trillion. That was up from the 10.7% worldwide growth the company posted in 2004 and the 5.8% in 2003. Gross dollar volumes in the United States grew 9.5% to $765.1 bln. In Europe, MasterCard’s second-largest market, volumes rose 13.5% to $452.8 bln. They grew 32.5% in Latin America to $98 bln and 13.7% in Canada to $61.2 bln, MasterCard said.
