70% of Asian and 57% of North American open source developers contribute to open source projects

Evans Data surveyed software developers in Asia-Pacific and North America and reported that 47% of APAC developers plan on upping their use of open source in 2006. North American developers are expected to increase their open source usage by only 25%. 44% of APAC developers contribute back to the open source community as opposed to 32% of North American developers. 70% of APAC developers also believe that Linux can be used for mission-critical deployments. Only 57% in North America think that Linux is ready for mission-critical.
