30% of catalog purchases took place on the Web in 2003

DoubleClick’s Abacus division released a study on catalogs showing that people are increasingly turning to the web to make their catalog purchases. Already accounting for 30% of transactions in 2003, Abacus expects this year to see 36% in Web sales, and for that percentage to grow about 5% each year, soon to eclipse telephone sales. About 25% of catalog sales happen at bricks and mortar stores.
