19 mln software developers by 2010

The global developer population will approach the 19 mln mark by 2010. Evans Data Corp projects 45% growth between 2006 and 2010 in the worldwide developer population. in 2007, the APAC region is home to nearly same number of professional developers as the EMEA region, an increase from 2005 when EMEA outnumbered APAC. By 2010, 43% of all developers will be found in the APAC region. That is an 83% increase from 2006, compared to just a 15% increase in North America for the same period. By 2010, the developer population in India and China is expected to grow 23% from 2006. Brazil, Russia, India, and China will have 30% of the developer population by 2010, collectively – as of 2006 they had 21%.
