Advertising contributes $151 bln to New York’s economy, which amounts to nearly 19% of total economic activity, according to Global Insight. This includes direct spending, supplier spending and inter-industry activity. The direct impact of advertising is $80 bln. This compares favorably with other industries in the New York region, including travel/tourism ($39 bln), fashion ($42.9 bln) and real estate ($121 bln). Advertising accounted for 679,151 jobs in the region, or 16.2% of the total.
