$1.21 bln of venture investments went into clean technologies in 2004

Cleantech investment grew again in 2004, capturing $1.21 bln, or 5.8% of total venture capital investments, according to Cleantech Venture Network. Investments in areas such as renewable energy and waste management have increased 3.4% from 2003, and 11.4% from 2002. The sector captured 5.8% of the $20.9 bln of venture capital invested across all industries, ranking it seventh in size as an industry segment behind software, biotech, telecommunications, medical devices, semiconductors, and networking equipment.
